This coloring book came into print December 2008. It's idea was developed by Jerry Thompson of Thrivant Financial, Plymouth, WIMr. Thompson coordinated a weekend event to host the arrival of the Soo Line 1003 Locomotive, an actual steam driven engine still in operation today. They titled it 'Santa's Steam Train'Sponsers funded the creation of the coloring book. Each sponser had a page named after their business.Additional pages besides the ones you see here were created by cartoon & caricature artist, Ken Bailey who also designed the cover.Kaleidoscope Family Daycare - each child shown on this page attends the daycare. Ages and names were provided so the children could see themselves in a coloring book.Thrivant Financial for Lutherans provide assistance to the multitude. Jerry Thompson has been instrumental in organizing fund-raisers that benefit many. The request to do these drawings came late in the project and to assist Ken Bailey who needed to attend to a family emergency. The request came in mid-Nov 2008 and the books were to go to print the weekend after Thanksgiving. Even tho I'm not a cartoonist, I thoroughly enjoyed working on this project. With thinking caps on, names & images of businesses, quick drawings and renderings needed approval & re-work. The actual event was held December 13, 2008.The coloring books made it to the event. The books were included in a gift bag that Santa was giving out to children in trade for their wish list. They were also available for sale. After Santa's Steam Train left Plymouth WI, it headed south to Random Lake WI where another event was scheduled, a staged hold-up by the Jesse James Gang.Land's End Architectural Renderings, Inc. - The artist's page was the last to draw. Even Santa deserved a rest.
